Pompeii is Cate Le Bon’s sixth studio album and acts as the follow up to 2019’s Mercury Prizenominated Reward.
The singer says the record was "written and recorded in a quagmire of unease". "I grappled with existence, resignation and faith," she continues. "I felt culpable for the mess but it smacked hard of the collective guilt imposed by religion and original sin.”
Le Bon plays every instrument on the album (except drums and saxophones) which was recorded largely by herself with long-term collaborator and co-producer Samur Khouja in Cardiff. Most of the visuals accompanying the record were also created in and around the Welsh capital.
